ABOUT ME
MEET THE ARTIST
My name is Dawn and I grew up in the country on a small holding with mainly pigs, cows, geese, dogs and horses.
I took the career path of working with horses when I turned 16 and then went to college at 18 studying a National Certificate in Horse Management progressing to yard manager and lots of competing along the way. I have always had a passion for all animals hence my inspiration behind Country Creations From The Barn.
I am now lucky enough to have our own small holding on the Shropshire Hills where we have our 2 border terriers, 6 Shropshire Ewes, 1 Ram, 2 Ram Lambs, 9 Ewe lambs and 2 Chickens.
I began my needle felting journey in 2021, when I saw a beautiful bee made from wool. I just had to try it! I was in love with 3D work but as I developed my skills, 18 months later I discovered the art of 2D needle felting which enabled me to create treasured pet portraits and memorial keepsakes using fur in the portraits if requested.
If I am not working away on a beautiful commission, I can be found creating all sorts of animals. My favourite is the 'hare' . We are so lucky to have hares all around us so see these majestic creatures most days.

Meet some of our beautiful Shropshire Sheep who's wool can be found in some of my portraits.

MY SPECIALTY
I use very sharp needles which have barbs at the end to capture sheep wool into felt to create beautiful portraits. This needle felting method is referred to as 'Painting with Wool'.
I quickly discovered that I can transform sheep wool into cherished keepsakes of your beloved pets creating lifelike replicas, capturing their unique features and personalities.
As you can see from the products in my shop, it is not just commissions that I create. You can find my work at the many shows and artisan events throughout the year - please see my calandar of events where you will find me next
